A Hull woman has told how she was attacked by a homeless person after she asked them to move off her driveway.

Faye Preston was attacked at around midnight on Friday night, leaving her with a “golf ball” size lump on her hand.

It is the latest in a string of cases when she has reported issues with homeless people in the Princes Avenue area to police.

She has described the homelessness problem in the Avenues area as a “crisis” after the latest incident when the woman attacked her as she returned home from a hen party.

The 31-year-old said her boyfriend had to come to her rescue after the woman started attacking her.

“I was picked up after a hen do at about midnight by my boyfriend. I was a little bit drunk when I got in and there were two blokes and one woman in the driveway,” she said.

“It’s been an issue since we moved in about six months ago so I was a bit fed up of seeing them and asked them to move. They got a bit aggressive and she just launched herself at me and I fell to the ground.

“There were two blokes there and my boyfriend had to drag her off me.”

Miss Preston said she has had to report issues around homelessness to Humberside Police three times before.

On one occasion, she left her flat off Princes Avenue to find two homeless people having sex on her driveway and she also contacted police when they pitched a tent up outside their home.

When she was attacked on Friday, Faye fell to the ground and has suffered a suspected broken hand.

She described the injury as like her “hand had swollen up like was a golf ball under my knuckle” and now says she is terrified about returning to her home next time she is alone.

“The police are trying their hardest and they do try their best but the message obviously isn’t getting through.

“I just want to get the message across that the Avenues is a great place to live but I don’t want to stay there if it stays like this.”
